Stella Cohen Hadria prepare Mini Berio a brand new show for the little ones whose first influence is the Sequenza for Luciano Berio's voice. She will be in residence several times in Epicentre for this project. This month, she is present from 26 to 29 May 2025.
Performer, author and curious director, Stella Cohen H. initiates and participates in trans-disciplinary creations, interprofessional laboratories and live arts experiences. She is the head of the association. It happens.
Following a training in 2019, functional anatomy for voice, she undertook a fundamental research on speech and its entourages that resulted in exploration laboratories and the creation of vocal and musical performances.
She works on the spoken voice and the sung voice. The bridges that exist between the two.
« In a particular listening to the production of the vocal gesture, I seek to divert words, to grasp the little physical and sound details that single out the flow of a voice – inspirations, cuts, silences, harmonies, dissonances, eyes, respiratory anatomical movements, laryngeal. In reference to the psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Jean Oury, I call these precious transcription residues the « around » of the floor. To make these surrounds hear demands to question step by step the subjectivity of his ear, the singularity of his listening. And so compose artistic proposals with a constellation of signs and micro-movements. Today, with Mini Berio, I want to explore this subject at the beginning of speech, before words – or almost. Babies before saying words begin by imitating the phrases and intonations they hear. They reproduce some interstices-expressions « Uh. « « Hey. », «oh»rhythms made of syllables, vowel melodies. They play the word before giving it an exact meaning. They sketch the Say in the momentum of a vocal gesture. He sings their tongue to come before speaking it. To create this concert, Stella will go back and forth between solo and team residences in places of music and immersion in the Maisons Assistante Motherelle and Relais Petites Enfances du territoires. During these immersions, she inspired contemporary compositions of Berio's Sequanza III or Kurt Switters' Ursonate. These compositions will be the basis for starting dialogue and improvising, with the vocals of the children. In the end, she would like to have a palette of composite pieces and structures of « games to improvise » « games to talk about ». This concert will also address adults. He will propose to them to make them hear from another angle the babbles of everyday life. And through listening and the attention of the little ones to immerse themselves in the sounds of music, the languages of sounds and the songs.
